UltraForce is an American animated series that premiered as part of the syndicated programming block Amazin' Adventures II in September 1995. The series was produced by DiC Entertainment and Bohbot Entertainment, and based on the UltraForce comic series. There was also an action figure toyline produced for the series by Galoob.
The series followed the Ultras, originally ordinary people that gained super powers that they began to use for evil purposes. A group of superhero Ultras was formed, the UltraForce, to combat the evil Ultras and protect the world.
Plot[]
In the Ultraverse, super-powered beings, called Ultras, are slowly making their presence known to mankind. Some are ancient entities, others, have only recently transformed, but all seem to have a larger purpose in the world. In response, a mysterious woman, assembles a team of Ultras to combat the forces that would see the destruction of the world and its people, while also investigating the origins of the Ultras.
Characters[]
Prime (voiced by Andrew Jackson) — A young adolescent granted the ability to create a bio-shell of a large, muscle-bound brute named Prime, an idealized image of adulthood and strength.
Hardcase (voiced by Rod Wilson) — A former struggling actor, now an invulnerable action star with great strength.
Prototype (voiced by Rino Romano) — A young recruit to utilize an advanced suit of armor for a corporation, who may hold more power than was originally thought.
Ghoul (voiced by Peter Wildman) — A former hero who died and came back, Ghoul is not only haunted by the horrors of his past, but also the precognitive visions he receives of the future. His necro-physiology also grants him some advantages.
Topaz (voiced by Catherine Disher) — An alien warrior woman transported here by unknown means, she seeks to return to her world by aiding Contrary, hoping to earn a way back. She wields an energy pole and can shield herself in alloy skin.
Contrary (voiced by Janet-Laine Green) — The mysterious founder and benefactor of UltraForce, her beautiful exterior hides a precise intellect and years of experience. She has considerable resources at her disposal, and a few mental tricks to throw around.
